Finally, powweb hosting is upgrading their hosting server from mysql 4.1.18 to mysql version 5. I been waiting for this upgrade since July, and i see this as a very important upgrade. On current mysql 4.1, it doesn’t allow limiting the connection make per user account. And by this, the database server will be jam up and busy most the time. Due to too many connection open by user, and many unclosed database connection from script.
From powweb forum, you can easily find thread discussion of mysql database too slow, or powweb is slow. This is due to the mysql issue. And undeniable, you will get into this slowness once a while… i get into this once a while as well. And its due to the mysql 4.1
Its been a critical upgrade, at least i view it so. And once this the version 5 is implemented, and limiting the connection per accounts/website… hopefully the database issue can be solved. As a user, what i want is faster website, beside reliability and good uptime
You can check your mysql version from the phpmyadmin. Login to powweb OPS, services, mysql, administer. This will bring you to the phpmyadmin interface.
